Anonymous FTP
Access
Anonymous
FTP allows visitors to FTP into your account and download files without a login or
password. People who are uploading files through anonymous FTP into your account will be
required to use a login and password. You can create a message file that will display your
message when someone uses an FTP software program to access your FTP site.
Autoresponders
Autoresponders reply to incoming
e-mail messages automatically. An autoresponder could be used to send "more
information" to persons that send e-mail to a specific address, such as
info@whateveryouwant.com. If you have ever sent an e-mail and had an automatic reply to
your e-mail (within 5 minutes), you probably received a message automatically generated by
an autoresponder.
CGI/Perl Scripts
All customers
have access to a personal cgi-local directory in which users can place their own custom
CGI scripts. CGI scripts are often used to accomplish tasks which are not supported by
HTML such as a hit counter or guestbook. The cgi-local directory can be used to set up
scripts that you write or find elsewhere on the web. We offer over 20 pre-configured
scripts, available free for your use. These include a text-based hit counter, a graphical
counter, guestbook, bulletin board, form mailer, random image/sound script, and more.
Bandwidth

Bandwidth is
the amount of data a user transfers across our TS3 line. When anyone accesses a users
website, the transfer of data (HTML files, images, sound files, etc.) is involved. Many
hosting services charge you based on your data transfer; however, at YouthOfAmerica.net,
we allow our users to have 10 gigs data transfer. Thus, we do not penalize you for having
a successful, high volume website!
Webspace
Webspace is the amount of disk
storage space you are allowed on the server. Do not confuse webspace with bandwidth.
Webspace is the the the amount of storage space for your files where bandwidth refers to
the amount of data transferred from your account to people requesting those files. YouthOfAmerica.net allows you to have 350 Megabytes of space for each account. This
webspace is used for files needed for your website and include HTML files (.html, .htm,
.shtml), images (.gif, .jpg), executables and compressed files (.exe, .tar, .zip) and
other files (.cgi, .pl, .txt). 350 Megabytes of webspace is quite a lot of space and
should be sufficient for all of your files.
Domain Name Registration
YouthOfAmerica.net offers virtual domain hosting accounts which means you can have
your own website address or "domain name" (example: yourname.com). We can handle
U.S. domain name registration or transfers on your behalf. (ie: .com, .net, .org). The
InterNIC charges $70 to register a domain name which covers the first two years. They
currently bill at a rate of $35 per year thereafter.
YouthOfAmerica.net can also serve non-U.S. domain
names as well. We can provide you with the appropriate nameserver to assist you in registering a non-U.S. domain name with your
local NIC.
You can also have additional
domain names point to your account for a small additional charge.

File Transfer
Protocol
You will have unlimited access to your account via File Transfer Protocol
24-hours a day to setup and maintain your web site. You can work on HTML documents,
graphics, and scripts locally and then upload files to your web site when ready. An FTP tutorial is available in our online support.
Microsoft®
FrontPage® 98
We can install FrontPage extensions on your account. This allows you to
use the easy-to-use Microsoft FrontPage program to create and maintain your web site. You
may request that FrontPage extensions be installed within your web site when placing an
order for domain web hosting services or contact our technical support directly. Microsoft provides direct support for all
FrontPage users.

E-Mail Forwarding
Once your domain name is active worldwide, you can receive all e-mail
addressed to your domain such as webmaster@yourname.com, sales@yourname.com, etc. By
default, all e-mail addressed to your domain will forward to your real e-mail address
(POP3 account) which is your_login@yoursite.com. For convenience, specific mail forwarding
options are available if you need specific addresses each to be forwarded to different
addresses on the internet. For example, e-mail addressed to webmaster@yourname.com could
forward to an account at AOL, but sales@yourname.com could forward to a Prodigy e-mail
account.
POP3 E-mail Accounts
In addition to mail forwarding, users have the option to retrieve
e-mail directly from POP3 mailboxes on the mail server using an email program such as Eudora. Each of our plans includes 100 individual POP3 accounts
which all have a unique login and password. Clients of YouthOfAmerica.com
can configure their POP3 accounts from their Personal Control Panel. Multiple POP3
accounts work well if you need e-mail addresses for several people within your
organization.

extensions but also include step by step instructions to include Real Audio/Video in your
web pages.
Chatrooms
FastChat is a real-time, live chat interface you can quickly and easily
add to your web site. It is written in JAVA so it is compatible with the vast majority of
web browsers without the need for any plug-ins. Allowing all clients of YouthOfAmerica.net to have their own Java chatroom.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) allows
users to collect data such as credit card information in a secure environment. Our secure
server is run by Apache-SSL with 128 key PNP encryption. Information submitted via a
secure form is sent to the server in an encrypted mode. Users may choose to research
methods such as encrypted email (PGP), CyberCash, or other solution for retrieving such
information from their web sites.
Multiple Domain Name
Pointing
Multiple domain name pointing
is having several virtual domains point to the same IP address. Keep in mind that the
InterNIC will bill you $70 for each domain name you register and an additional 60.00 will
be charged for each additional Domain Pointer.
Statistics -
MK-Stats
We use a website
statistics program called MK-Stats which will keep key statistics on your website.
This comprehensive statistics program keeps over 50 pieces of information pertaining
to your website, including your volume by month, week, day, and even hour. The program
even keeps track of the places that have have linked to your website and other important
information. We have
added two more programs!
Telnet
Telnet is a separate protocol that allows users to access their accounts. Telnet
has some very powerful uses but is more complicated than the popular File Transfer
Protocol. All accounts all have access to Telnet that is configured with a tcsh shell.
TrueSpeechTM
TrueSpeech is a high quality
speech compression which compresses speech down to as much as 1/40th its original size.
Since regular speech files are normally large, compression using TrueSpeech enables them
to be transferred faster and more easily. Support for TrueSpeech real-time audio is
available for use in your web pages.
File Manager
File Manager allows users
to access their files on the server using Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer or any
other browser rather than the File Transfer Protocol. Users can upload, delete, view, and
